So I wanted to do a project that was meant more for video game implementation. I haven't made a model that had normals baked in or painted on a diffuse material in a while. So after getting some help for which direction to go with I decided to model out an air soft pistol I have and also because Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorite franchises and that pistol has a lot sentimental value to me.
The Majority of the modeling was done in 3ds Max as well as creating smoothing groups. I then took the high and low poly models over in to blender where I unwrapped it and performed a normal bake. After that I used photoshop for the base colors and I would use a normal plug in to create the text etchings in to the normal map.
